Disability at JEMS: inclusion starts at the interview

On the occasion of Wellness Month by JEMS and Quality of Life and Working Conditions (QVCT) Week, JEMS reaffirms its commitment to diversity and inclusion by organising a training day dedicated to the recruitment and onboarding of people with disabilities for our HR teams. This initiative follows on from our collaboration with Gloria, who previously worked with us during the actions carried out during Handicap Month by JEMS. Thanks to our commitment and this partnership, we can offer concrete and impactful content, focused on more inclusive recruitment practices. Our HR teams, based in several of our agencies around the world, participated actively, both in person and remotely. Another step towards a more open, accessible, and committed company culture!

QVCT JEMS Workshop

From awareness to action: a day to rethink recruitment

The aim of this day: to better understand what disability really means, beyond common misconceptions. Too often reduced to its most visible aspects, disability actually takes many forms – physical, sensory, mental, cognitive, etc. – the vast majority of which are invisible (80%) and therefore less well understood. The morning was dedicated to breaking down the taboos surrounding the subject, by setting a clear framework: definition of disability typologies, open discussions between participants, and sharing of personal or professional experiences.

Through participatory activities, discussions helped to foster a better understanding of the realities experienced by the people concerned. The afternoon allowed for an in-depth exploration of inclusive recruitment practices through role-playing. We specifically addressed the issue of unconscious bias and practical levers for sustainably integrating talent with disabilities. A human as well as professional approach, designed to embed inclusion within our HR processes, in a fair, respectful, and long-lasting way.

JEMS Disability Conference

Gloria, the committed actor alongside JEMS

Nous avons une nouvelle fois fait appel à ourselves once again Gloria, our committed partner on diversity and inclusion topics. Already with us during Handicap Month by JEMS in November 2024, their approach is both educational and experiential. This was once again invaluable in leading this training day with impact and meaning.

Towards even more responsible HR policies

This type of initiative actively participates in evolving mindsets and practices within the company. By providing concrete tools for better understanding, welcoming, and recruiting, it strengthens everyone's ability to act in favour of a fairer professional environment. Inclusion is not decreed: it is built, step by step, through training, listening, and commitment. It is also a powerful lever for attracting and retaining talent with diverse backgrounds and profiles. By cultivating this culture of openness, JEMS affirms its desire to build a collective that reflects the world around it.

A big thank you to Mathilde Cabanis, a speaker during this day, and to Gloria's team for their support. Thank you also to our HR teams for their active participation and commitment, as well as to Elise Mendes Tavares, our disability referent, for this excellent initiative.
