Home » Cloudera and the data-centric model
On the occasion of JEMS DATA CONNECT 2022, we met with our closest partners so that they could share their vision of data as well as their opinions on the data-centric model. Cloudera has been an integral part of our partner ecosystem for several years. It is therefore only natural that they answered two questions on the subject!
Since its creation in 2008, Cloudera a has supported numerous companies in the creation of data-centric platforms. The latest version of the Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) allows for the management and securing of the entire data lifecycle across major public and private clouds, offering unified and consistent security, governance, and metadata management.
Cloudera continuously improves CDP to simplify the lives of users, as well as system operators, developers, analysts, and data scientists. Furthermore, this platform can be deployed in multiple environments, such as on-premise, private cloud, public cloud in PaaS mode, and in the very near future in SaaS mode. This allows us to offer our clients a truly data-centric platform that will enable them to address an almost unlimited number of use cases and offer great versatility to adapt and evolve according to user needs.
That's an interesting question. It's undeniable that the use of public cloud has continued to grow, and for software publishers like Cloudera, it is vital to be able to adapt our platform to these environments. Indeed, in 2020, Cloudera doubled the number of customers using CDP Public Cloud. Despite the fact that the death of on-premise infrastructure has been announced, even if it becomes a niche sector, demand will always exist for various reasons. The use of containerisation allows for a private cloud on-premise, offering the elasticity and flexibility of a public cloud.
Even though Cloudera has often been associated with an on-premises-only platform, it's important to understand that CDP is infrastructure-agnostic, whether on-premises, private cloud, or public cloud. Clients can access data wherever it resides using the same APIs. To discover the CDP public cloud version, I invite you to attend our workshop to see how to use CDP in a banking fraud processing scenario. I will demonstrate the use of several services related to the data lifecycle.
