Home » SBTi: JEMS' commitment to the climate emergency
The effects of climate change are increasingly and worryingly evident. In this context, businesses have a crucial role to play in limiting greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to the building of a sustainable economy. This requires concrete, measurable commitments that are in line with scientific recommendations.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is an international non-profit initiative launched in 2015 at COP21, and supported by major players: the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
It aims to help companies set greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets aligned with the 2015 Paris Agreement, i.e. limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
The SBTi provides a clear, scientific, and rigorous framework, including a independent validation process. By joining this initiative, companies commit to sustainably transforming their practices and report on their progress.
We are proud to announce that JEMS has achieved validation of its decarbonisation plan by the SBTi in 2025.
Between 2023 and 2024, we have already reduced our overall carbon footprint by 26.15% — a significant first step that demonstrates our commitment to acting in a structured and ambitious manner.
Our plan is based on ambitious reduction targets covering scopes 1, 2 and 3, with 2034 as the target year and 2023 as the baseline year:
Scope 1 – For direct emissions generated by our activity, notably fuel consumption.
Scope 2 – Indirect emissions from energy: mainly those arising from the production of the electricity we consume.
Scope 3 – Extended indirect emissions: covering a broad scope including our purchases, investments, travel, waste, etc.
To achieve these objectives, JEMS is implementing a structured and cross-functional action plan involving all its teams and comprising:
