Our approach to data governance

Many businesses have invested in a data catalogue without managing to turn it into a genuine everyday tool. Too technical, too abstract, too far removed from business reflexes: the catalogue often remains confined to a few experts. With AI Data Knowledge, we help data leadership to make the data governance more concrete and more useful, thanks to an AI agent that allows data metadata to be queried in natural language and finally brings the data catalogue closer to its users.

More accessible data governance

We step in when data governance exists on paper, but remains difficult to activate in practice. Roles are defined, a catalogue is sometimes already deployed, and metadata is documented, but accessing information remains complex for business users. The result is that users continue to ask IT or data experts for simple answers, which hinders adoption and slows down the circulation of knowledge.

An AI agent connected to your data catalogue

We are implementing an AI agent capable of connecting to your existing data catalogues to extract and deliver useful metadata information. The user formulates their request in natural language, as with a conversational assistant, and obtains a simpler, more direct, and more actionable response. When the context warrants it, the agent can also be connected directly to the data to enrich its analysis, with built-in safeguards to prevent inappropriate queries.

Make the data catalogue finally useful for business.

The aim isn't to replace existing governance tools, but to make them more accessible. The data catalogue remains essential for documenting, linking, and governing data assets, but it's often perceived as too technical by end-users. By adding a conversational interface, we lower the barrier to entry and facilitate adoption by business users, without compromising governance requirements.

Give data stewards and data managers more leverage

The approach doesn't just benefit business users; it also helps governance stakeholders to better track requests, identify areas of misunderstanding, improve metadata quality, and better prioritise their efforts. To achieve this, we are planning a request tracking and governance module, as well as a dedicated module to assist data managers and data stewards in their duties.

The key deliverables

  • AI Data Knowledge agent configured to query your metadata
  • Connect to existing data catalogue via API
  • Option for direct connection to certain data sources, as needed
  • Safeguards on requests and terms of use
  • User request tracking and governance
  • Module for data stewards and data managers
  • Recommendations for improving document adoption and quality
  • Clear restitution for data management and business stakeholders
