Putting trades at the centre of data governance
RTE has embarked on a wide-ranging transformation programme to digitise several key platforms, including procurement, finance, HR, and customer relations. In this context, the challenge was to build an enterprise data catalogue capable of centralising business objects, improving data quality and better inventorying the organisation's assets.

Job-related concepts identified
Business domains, business objects, data entities and attributes have been centralised to build a repository that is understandable and shareable by teams.
3 month
JEMS supported RTE for a short period to structure the governance framework and deploy the initial foundations of the data catalogue.
The project
Our approach
JEMS has deployed the DataGalaxy solution to enable RTE to structure its glossary and build an enterprise data catalogue. The intervention consisted of adapting the solution to the specificities of RTE's business model, clarifying responsibilities around data assets, and implementing the necessary tools to disseminate knowledge and break down silos in its usage.
The diagnosis
RTE needed to better master its data heritage as part of a large-scale transformation programme. The need was not just for a cataloguing tool, but for the ability to centrally document business objects, clarify governance roles, and make knowledge accessible beyond organisational silos. It was therefore necessary to build a system capable of putting the business back at the heart of data governance, with common reference points, better readability of assets, and a clearer framework for responsibilities.
The key deliverables
- Data catalogue implementation
- Defining stakeholders with clear responsibilities and dashboards to manage data assets
- Development of tools to disseminate knowledge and break down silos
- Glossary deployment in DataGalaxy
- Adaptation of the solution to RTE's business metamodel

Clear roles and dashboards have been defined to better manage data assets over time.
5. Equipping knowledge sharing
Tools have been put in place to facilitate the dissemination of information and reduce silo mentalities.
